THE SANDYA 16 S, CALIBRATING SANDING MACHINE FOR SMALL & MEDIUM SIZED BUSINESS
Until now SCM has served the market for medium size automatic calibrating sanding machines with two separate families of machines: SANDYA 7 S and SANDYA 15 S. Development and rationalisation of these two designs has produced the new SANDYA 16 S, a machine with important technincal innovations and benefiting from the wealth of experience gained in more than 35 years serving customers worldwide.
The option of an XCE cross belt unit (4900 mm belt length) is the main new feature. Normally only found on sanding machines used in the large-scale furniture factories, this transversal unit guarantees the best pre-sanding of panels, whether veneered or painted.
All of the SANDYA 16 S pads are supplied as standard in the "Plus" version, having a large sanding contact surface and an extremely solid, precise mechanism for positioning during machining. The electronic sectional pads also have the HCC (High Compensation Capability) system: allowing them to compensate for noticeable differences in thickness. The HCC system guarantees the best results even in the most difficult operations, such as sanding doors with honeycomb supports or simultaneously machining several workpieces which are not suitably calibrated.
The SANDYA 16 S standard kit is further enhanced by the length of the abrasive belts on the longitudinal units, now 2620 mm. The many basic versions available (with two or three longitudinal machining units and a machining width of 1100 or 1350 mm), can all be equipped with the XCE cross belt unit. The roller in the first position can be replaced by the HPL planer, a solution dedicated to all customers requiring stock removal of up to 4 mm on solid wood or strip panels, using fewer machining units and low-power motors.
Thanks to the 175 mm diameter roller and the "Plus" type sanding pad, the CS combined unit on the SANDYA 16 S combines traditional versatility with better quality machining, until now only possible with dedicated roller or pad units.
There is a choice of four different diameters: 160, 200, 250 and 320 mm for the R roller unit. This allows unit customisation according to requirements: from calibration to pre-sanding, to high quality finishes.
A stand-out feature amongst the electronic controls available is the new LOGIC SC: a truly smart push-button panel for sequentially setting all machining parameters, then running them at the press of a button. Four of these "sequences" can be saved, for rapid retrieval of the most frequently used machine settings. For more demanding users and more complex machine configurations, the ideal choice is LOGIC TS, with a 5.7" or 10.4" touch-screen and 120 machining programs.
SANDYA 16 S is also available in the version with fixed-height worktable 900 mm above the floor. Originally only found on machines intended for automated production lines, this construction detail is now increasingly appreciated and sought after even by craftsmen and small businesses: the fixed table allows roller conveyors or conveyor belts to be positioned at the machine infeed and outfeed, facilitating the loading and unloading of very long and heavy workpieces. This version may also be connected to an automatic panel return device, meaning that a single operator can carry out all loading and unloading operations, significantly increasing productivity.
